MERIT LIST
For each Test Paper, an All India merit list will be prepared based on the following criteria:
Let Y be the score of the 2Nth candidate, where N is the total number of seats available for the general category students in a given subject. Candidates with score more than or equal to Y, will be included in the all India merit list for the given subject.
Separate merit lists will be prepared for OBC (non creamy layer), SC, ST and PD category candidates.
OBC (non creamy layer) category candidates with score more than or equal to 0.9 Y, will be included in the merit list for the given subject.
Similarly, SC, ST and PD category candidates with score more than or equal to 0.5 Y, will be included in the merit list for the given subject.
These candidates (henceforth called qualified candidates) are eligible to apply for admission to any of the corresponding academic programs available at different IITs.
EXTENDED MERIT LIST
For each Test Paper, an all India Extended Merit List (AIEML) will be prepared based on the following criteria.
Let X be the mean of scores of all candidates appearing in a given subject. All candidates with score more than or equal to X, but less than Y (as defined in 14. B), will be included in the AIEML for the given subject.
Separate extended merit lists will also be prepared for OBC (non creamy layer), SC, ST and PD category candidates.
OBC (non creamy layer) category candidates with score more than or equal to 0.9 X, but less than 0.9Y will be included in the AIEML for the given subject.
Similarly, SC, ST and PD category candidates with score more than or equal to 0.5 X, but less than 0.5Y will be included in the AIEML for the given subject.
The candidates in AIEML are not eligible to apply for admission to any of the academic programs available at IITs. The AIEML will be made available to any Government Institution for its use.
The results (merit lists) shall be declared at 17:00 hours on May 25, 2009. The results will be available on the website: http://jam.iitkgp.ac.in
There is no provision for scrutiny or re-evaluation of answer scripts. The Organizing Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this regard. The Rank Card (indicating the All India Rank(s) and the mark(s) obtained by the Candidate) will be sent only to the candidates appearing in merit lists and extended merit lists, while the Score Card (indicating the mark(s) obtained by the candidate) will be sent to all the candidates.
